Description
The Objective of this study is to conduct full-scale tests of recovered oil/emulsion/water separation rates at OHMSETT in order to predict the optimum time for decanting separated water in temporary storage devices.
Latest progress update
A preliminary laboratory-scale study was conducted for Alaska Clean Seas (ACS) in December 1997 to identify some of the factors that determine the optimum separation time for the Alaska North Slope (ANS) and Milne Pt. Crude oils. The results of the study were developed as a draft standard on storage device decanting procedures for consideration by the ASTM F20.12 subcommittee on recovery. The testing phase was completed November 9-20, 1998 at the Ohmsett facility.
Project work is completed.
