Last week, BSEE Pacific Region Director Jaron Ming and BSEE engineers Theresa Bell and Stan Kaczmarek attended the California State Lands Commission's Prevention First 2014 conference at the Westin Long Beach Hotel in Long Beach, Calif. Now in it's 11th year, the two-day event serves as an onshore and offshore pollution prevention symposium and technology exhibition.
During Tuesday's session on Platforms, Facilities and Process Safety, Kaczmarek updated the audience on the bureau's Safety and Environmental Management Systems (SEMS) program. Kaczmarek recently joined the bureau and works in BSEE's SEMS branch in Herndon, Va. where he helps the bureau improve the effectiveness of SEMS as a risk management tool.
On Wednesday, Bell presented updates from BSEE's Pacific Region pipeline inspection program, which oversees more than 200 miles of pipelines in the region. Bell works on a variety of pipeline projects including repairs, inspections, leak detection systems, new pipeline permitting and installation and regulations.
