On Wednesday, BSEE Gulf of Mexico Region Director Lars Herbst addressed The Offshore Operators Committee (OOC) at their general membership meeting in New Orleans. The OOC is a non-profit organization comprised of any person, firm or corporation owning offshore leases and/or engaged in offshore activities. The Committee's activities are focused on supporting its member companies in operations that protect human health and the environment.
Gulf of Mexico Region Director Herbst gave the OOC a regulatory update, spoke about production trends in the Gulf of Mexico, and detailed unsafe incidents. He also spoke about challenges for the future, including managed pressure drilling and high pressure high temperature environments.

In attendance were representatives from oil and gas operators, the US Coast Guard, and other users operating in the Gulf of Mexico. BSEE’s participation in the OOC membership meeting is part of its commitment to promote a proactive safety culture and protect personnel working on the US Outer Continental Shelf.
