Ms. Ramona Sanders has nearly two decades of dedicated public service in environmental and safety management within the offshore energy sector. Ms. Ramona Sanders serves as the Deputy Assistant Director for the Environmental Compliance Division at the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE). In this role, Ramona oversees national environmental compliance and enforcement directives and provides strategic guidance to ensure the effective execution of policies affecting the marine, coastal, and human environment.
From October 2020 to July 2024, Ms. Sanders served as the Senior Environmental Stewardship Coordinator where she advised bureau leadership on strategic initiatives and spearheaded coalition-building efforts to drive environmental priorities and performance. Prior to this, Ms. Sanders was the Environmental Monitoring Unit Supervisor from June 2012 to October 2020, leading a team of engineers and scientists in managing compliance with environmental regulations related to marine benthic species, air quality, and water quality.
Ms. Sanders began her professional career as a civil and structural engineer, primarily focused on permitting decommissioning of offshore infrastructure in the Gulf of Mexico. Ms. Sanders holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, in partnership with Fort Valley State University’s Cooperative Developmental Energy Program (CDEP).
