Description

The objective was to perform an investigation of underwater acoustic imaging techniques for the inspection of structures and pipelines.

Latest progress update

Complete. This study evaluated an acoustic imaging system which was designed and fabricated by the Navy, but never tested. At very low power, this system produced images of structural shapes underwater. The system was in deteriorated condition. Because of the time and costs required to rebuild it for testing at the designed power levels other means for imaging in turbid waters are being sought.
