Description

This is a Joint Industry Project (JIP) with 10 participants. To develop engineering guidelines for estimating the strength capacity of damaged members in steel jacket platforms. The objective is to compare the results of axial compression tests of damaged, tubular braces removed from service to analytical predictions of their buckling and post buckling behavior. This information will be used to quantify the extent of strength degradation in the components of jacket-type platforms that were damaged or suffered severe corrosion while in service. The project will provide data to evaluate the validity of analytical and numerical procedures for predicting the strength of damaged members.
