Description

The project was a Joint Industry Project (JIP) to develop a capacity analysis program (CAP) that can be used to determine the ultimate load capacity of an offshore structure or to verify new designs. The CAP system will aid in the AIM (assess, inspect and maintain) evaluation of old or damaged platforms, and provide an integrated system for analysis and report presentation. The major feature of the program is its ability to conduct push-over analysis that is required to estimate the residual capacity of existing damaged structures. The CAP system will be a computer aided engineering tool which incorporates a graphics environment, structure database, nonlinear structure analysis, and a data translation facility to provide for the rapid assessment of the structure integrity of an offshore structure.

Latest progress update

Complete. The computer code was completed and the final documentation for the CAP system was received. A decision by the advisory committee was made to extend the concept to cover seismic responses. This project will be proposed as a Joint Industry Project (JIP) relative to the dynamic capacity of aging facilities.
