Description

The purpose of this project was to use existing data to develop a model to evaluate aging offshore platforms. The factors considered in the model included realistic loading, performance, inspection and repair costs. A case study of selected older platforms were used to validate the model. Initially, an assessment was made of total system safety on these platforms. Next, an optimized decision model for extended platform life will be developed. The optimized model considered environmental and operational safety/production benefit analysis; inspection scheduling; repair and failure costs. The findings and recommendations of the study are expected to provide benchmarks on environmental and operational safety for older offshore platforms.
