Description

Development of a model or models that will provide criteria for cathodic protection retrofits for offshore pipelines. The project would be based on recently developed relationships between cathodic protection potential and electric current density for sacrificially protected steel in sea water. The results could serve as a recommended practice of specification.

Latest progress update

A workshop was held in conjunction with Project #243 in Galveston, TX on Feb 7-10, 1999.

Scope was modified to include not only a method for accurate design of pipeline CP retrofits but also new builds. This project was completed August 2001. Work will continue with industry direction for the development of a field document for engineering use.
