Perform a review of existing API, NORSOK, and ISO offshore structural standards with respect to specifically agreed structural integrity aspects and produce a comparison report identifying differences and recommendations for their possible resolution for application in US Gulf of Mexico and the West Coast. This study will focus on the parts of the three codes which impact the platform's structural integrity. The sections of the API RP 2A, 2T, 2TD, and 2FPS, and API Bulletins 2INT-MET, EX, and DG which have high impact on the platform's structural integrity are those dealing with the following:
Environmental (Metocean) loads
Loading conditions and load combinations
Structural steel design (load factors, material safety factors etc)
Connections (detailing practice)
Fatigue design
Foundation design
In-service inspection and maintenance
Assessment criteria for existing platforms
Design against fire, blast and accidental loadings
Installation loads and effects DNV will compare the requirements in API documents and applicable NORSOK and ISO standards with respect to the above mentioned ten aspects. The study will provide a one-to-one comparison between the associated parts of the codes. The work will cover both fixed and floating offshore structures.
This project has been completed. The final meeting was held at BSEE's offices in New Orleans January 5th, 2012.
