DNV GL tried to initiate a Joint Industry Project with oil majors and BSEE to study and develop guidelines for the quality design, fabrication, and installation of subsea bolts. A small workshop was held to discuss the concept of the JIP, but sadly the offshore oil and gas operators did not follow through on the project. As such, BSEE opted to fund a project separately through the DOE National Labs.
